BASIS Washington DC opened in 2012 in a beautiful school near the National Portrait Gallery. In the 2015-16 school year BASIS Washington DC will serve grades 5-11, mirroring the design of our nationally ranked sister campuses. In the heart of our nation’s capital, BASIS Washington DC provides an unparalleled, enriching community where students work hard to pursue genuine understanding. BASIS Washington DC Grades 5-7 focus on establishing the deep knowledge base necessary to prepare for the rigorous demands of our college-preparatory curriculum. 5-7th Grade students master the foundations of language, math, and science by taking courses like Latin, chemistry, biology, and physics as distinct disciplines. By 7th grade, students begin studying a second language and are exposed to principles of formal logic to bolster critical thinking and problem-solving skills at an early age. The BASIS 8-12 Grade program is consistently ranked in the Top 10 high school programs in the country by U.S. News, Newsweek, The Daily Beast, and The Washington Post. 8-12 grade students take Honors and Advance Placement courses across the academic spectrum. By mastering a wide array of material, graduates of BASIS Washington DC will establish themselves as prime candidates for the most selective institutions of higher learning and go on to become advanced scholars, professionals, and lifelong learners.
